Polina, Luhansk

Across the conflict stricken regions of Ukraine diabetes festers due to the war. The war has resulted in there being no medical support in the disputed territories. Along with the stresses the conflict brings and the struggle to provide children with a healthy diet, children are suffering with a severe lack of insulin and healthy food causing distress for single parents and families. ChildAid is working tirelessly with local volunteers to supply these children with insulin, medicine and food.

Polina is 17 years old and lives with her Grandmother in Luhansk. She suffers with diabetes and has been in need of insulin for 15 years.

Polina is of an age where she is well aware of the troubles and conflict in her neighbourhood. She has seen friends' families ripped apart by death and war. Her own parents left her and went to live in Russia when the conflict began. The stress of the conflict has taken a serious toll on Polina's health.

She currently lives with her grandmother in dire poverty. She studies in railway college and remains optimistic about her future. Our volunteers have supplied her with much needed insulin and remark she is a cheerful girl who just needs support in this desperate time. When he was 11 years old when he was diagnosed with diabetes. For the last six years, his survival has depended on a continuing supply of insulin. +ChildAid's volunteers currently supply Maxim with insulin, which he and his mother is very grateful for.

Unfortunately Maxim's mother can not afford to buy insulin, and recieves no support from Maxim's estranged father who we're told is more concerned with the war than his son's health. Maxim's mother Olga works as a care assistant in the local hospital; a extremely low paying job. The families financial situation is in dire straits and desperately need the support from our partners. Along with the stresses the conflict brings and the struggle to provide children with a healthy diet, children are suffering with a severe lack of insulin and healthy food causing distress for single parents and families. ChildAid is working tirelessly with local volunteers to supply these children with insulin, medicine and food.

Alexander is just one of many children suffering from diabetes and lacking adequate medicines for his condition.

With medical resources running scare, Alexander's doctors prescribed him with the wrong medicine, causing is blood sugar to raise too high. This improper treatment left him with growing hunger and thirst. Luckily, our volunteers were able to supply Alexander with the medicines that suited his condition. He began to feel better the very next day as his mother praised God for such a timely gift. Our volunteers spent the night with the family and remarked they could see a difference in Alexander even the next day.

Alexander's parents can not find employment due to the conflict in the disputed area and are therefore also in need of food and clothing. Thanks to the donations from our followers we provided our volunteers with the supplies and resources to supply Alexander's family and many more like is with the much needed necessities. The city of Antratsit is not under the control of the Ukrainian Government which is causing great suffering to it's inhabitants. As poverty rages across the region, Julia's whole family have been affected by job loss, a lack of support and a halt to business in the area. With no other choice, her family contacted +ChildAid's volunteers to ensure they could have insulin for Julia.

Thanks to the donations from our followers we provided Julia with insulin, medical supplies and have provided her family with food. Our volunteers continue to supply the family in this time of need.

We are seeing more and more cases similar to Julia's family's. They were a hard-working business owners before the crisis struck. Now however, they have lost everything and are in need of continued assistance.

In this time of adversity, Angelina's mother has often found it hard to be a single parent however she continues to do her best for Angelina.

Olga, Luhansk

Across the conflict stricken regions of Ukraine diabetes festers due to the war. The war has resulted in there being no medical support in the disputed territories. Along with the stresses the conflict brings and the struggle to provide children with a healthy diet, children are suffering with a severe lack of insulin and healthy food causing distress for single parents and families. ChildAid is working tirelessly with local volunteers to supply these children with insulin, medicine and food.

Olga is the grandmother of four-year-old Kiril.

Kiril was too unwell to travel when she collected the insulin provided by our volunteers. Like so many children in eastern Ukraine, he does not have access to much needed insulin and other medicines. The conflict has caused prices to sky-rocket and has left vulnerable families unable to care for their sick children. At the time of delivering the medicine, Kiril was extremely ill with his temperature sometimes reaching as high a 40C.

When Olga came to us she was filled with gratitude and towards our volunteers, donors and God. She asks for her family to be considered in prayer as she fights to keep them healthy.

She told our volunteers how many of her neighbours have died since the fighting began in Luhansk, she says they have simply been forgotten and left to die.
