Across the conflict stricken regions of Ukraine diabetes festers due to the war. The war has resulted in there being no medical support in the disputed territories. Along with the stresses the conflict brings and the struggle to provide children with a healthy diet, children are suffering with a severe lack of insulin and healthy food causing distress for single parents and families. ChildAid is working tirelessly with local volunteers to supply these children with insulin, medicine and food.
Kira lives in Stakhanov. In Stakhanov there is no free public provision of insulin. The area greatly lacks in social services. The price of medicine here can be twice or three times as expensive as elsewhere in Ukraine. Some medicine is not available to buy at all.
Our volunteers repeatedly mentioned the difference they saw in Kira over the two visits. On their first visit Kira seemed weak, quiet and pale. Now they arrived to Kira playing in the streets with her friends and in seemingly good health. Regular insulin has given Kira the opportunity to live a fun childhood - thank you for her give her this chance.
On our last visit we also spoke with Kira's grandmother. It was at this time her Grandmother came to Christ, as with many of her neighbours. Upon our return we found the community still devote to the Lord and we are now considering building a small house church and finding someone to come and speak and pray with them once a week.

Kira's hormonal system is struggling to function, needing her to consume a wide vary of medication. Our volunteers gave her mother some money for food, however on our next visit we will also be bring food to the family. We also have a steam cooker ready to be sent to the family thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
