Ilya, Snezhnoe

Across the conflict stricken regions of Ukraine diabetes festers due to the war. The war has resulted in there being no medical support in the disputed territories. Along with the stresses the conflict brings and the struggle to provide children with a healthy diet, children are suffering with a severe lack of insulin and healthy food causing distress for single parents and families. ChildAid is working tirelessly with local volunteers to supply these children with insulin, medicine and food.

Ilya is four years old and lives in Snezhnoe. He has suffered with asthma since he was eight months old and diabetes since he was one year old.

When our local volunteers arrived to provide Ilya with insulin they found a very sociable child, playful and humorous. They noticed how he had not let his condition get him down, and were amazed at his resilience with such scarcity of insulin.

Ilya's mother and father spoke to our volunteers about the struggle they face to find medication for their son. They are they live in is lacking in social support and they spoke about how the reality now is that it is nearly impossible to find the medication they need. Thankfully, with the support of our followers we were able to provide local volunteers with the resources necessary to help Ilya; thank you.
